India Arabian Sea

In the India Arabian Sea case we explore the potential to transform conflicts between blue economy development and sustaining small scale fisheries livelihoods. Focus is on the Mumbai Region that is undergoing rapid socio-spatial and environmental transitions.

We will analyze protest action and legal challenges among fishers, between fishers and other users, and between coastal resource-based communities and urban development imperatives, in the context of climate change impacts and vulnerabilities. The objective is to better understand the dynamics of resource-based marine conflicts to achieve socially cohesive, inclusive, equitable, and sustainable outcomes.
